Army Super Six lifts Karan- Rattan Memorial Volleyball trophy

Jammu, Dec 18: Army Super XI lifted the Ist Karan Singh and Rattan Chand Memorial Volleyball Tournament which was organised by Trikuta Volleyball Club under the aegis of Volleyball Association of J&K (VAJK) at MA Stadium, here today.
In the final, Army Super Six defeated another belt force side of Royal Army 3-1 (25-16, 26-24, 21-25, 25-18). Since it was a clash between two Army sides created out of the Division team, the young men exhibited brilliant skills displaying exceptional fitness and power-packed spikes.
In the final and valedictory function, former International Handball player and SSP (Security), Paramjeet Singh was chief guest, who presented the title trophies and cash prizes Worth Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 to the winners and runners-up teams as also other individual medals.
General secretary of VAJK, VK Magotra was guest of honour. In all, nine teams took part in this twi-day knock-out competition.
Speaking to the gathering, chief guest lauded the efforts of Trikuta Volleyball Club for remembering the veteran players and coaches. Office bearers of VAJK also appreciated the efforts of the Club to recall the contribution of volleyball legends in the field of volleyball in the State.
"It was for the first time that an event organised in memory of veteran players and coaches of Volleyball at the Club level. Both Karan Singh and Rattan Chand were the stalwarts in State Volleyball and represented J&K at the National level in the capacity of a player and later as a coach," organising secretary of the event, Mulkh Raj Sharma told SAN.
Prominent among others present were Kuldip Magotra (CEO VAJK), HS Gill (executive vice- president VAJK ), RC Sharma (treasurer VAJK), Madan Lal Toofan (vice president), Mohinder Sharma , Balbinder Singh Jamwal, Anchal Singh, Manpreet Kour, Ritu Sharma, Rimpy Sharma, Veena Gupta , Mohd. Tariq.
The final officiated by the technical penal including Amarjit Singh, Naresh Kumar and Anil Kumar, Ankit and Sachin Raina. Later, organising Secretary, Mulkh Raj Sharma presented vote of thanks.
