Penalty of Rs 2000 imposed on tainted Lab Tech in Chadoora block, not transferred yet

Early Times Report

Chadoora, Jan 21: The Laboratory Technician in Budgam who was allegedly caught red-handed doing private practice inside the Primary Health Center (PHC) Surasyar in medical block Chadoora has been penalized by Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Budgam instead of shunting him from the PHC as assured last week when the matter was exposed by Early Times.
The Block Medical Officer (BMO) Chadoora had been earlier directed to relieve the tainted Laboratory Technician of Primary Health Center (PHC) Surasyar, instead the official was asked to pay Rs. 2000 as penalty towards Red Cross fund.
As reported already the technician was found to be minting money inside the hospital premises by acting as an agent of a private lab during office hours. The official was to be attached in CMOs office Budgam but it seems he has managed to influence some local officials in BMO office Chadoora who are coming in his support.
As the report filed in ET had gone viral on social media, some of the influential relatives of lab technician had threatened and abused Mushtaq Ahmad Lone, husband of the female patient namely Afroza who was charged Rs 600 for a lab test that is usually charged mere Rs 100 in Govt hospitals and Rs 450 at private labs.
On the direction of SP Budgam Amod Nagpure Chadoora Police station has already registered a complaint against one Irfan Ahmad Kirmani @ Irfan Peer (brother in law of lab technician) for threatening Mushtaq on phone.
"CMO Budgam had also personally visited PHC Surasyar and also met me. He assured to attach Lab Technician Aftab Alam but till date nothing has been done except slashing Rs 2000 fine which the lab technician mints every day from poor patients," said Mushtaq while talking to Early Times.
