BJP preferred expediency over ethics: Harsh
2/17/2019 11:11:54 PM
Early Times Report
Ramnagar, Feb 17: Asserting that unnatural alliance of BJP and PDP in 2015 was largely responsible for re-emergence of militancy in the state, Harsh Dev Singh JKNPP Chairman and Former Minister said that personalized and self centred politics had shaken the faith of the common man in the present day political system.
Harsh said that BJP and PDP, the two diametrically opposed political parties had fought elections in 2014 with the slogans of uprooting each other. He was addressing huge public gathering in Dehari and Ramnagar town today. While the BJP leaders had vowed to demolish father-daughter party (Baap-Beti party), the PDP had announced wiping out of BJP in elections by dubbing it as communal, fascist organization, he recalled.
"To the utter dismay of people of both the regions of the state, the two proclaimed adversaries, joined hands to reap the dividends of power by disregarding their coherent paradoxes. While the unethical move promoted alienation in Kashmir, it led to unprecedented public rage and revulsion against the opportunist politicians in Jammu region," said the NPP Chairman.
Lambasting the BJP for its successive surrenders over the Jammu related issues for the sake of power, Harsh said that it made an extremely awful beginning by acquiescing in the Kashmir centre Agenda of Alliance (AOA) which had nothing to offer for Jammu. While the AOA assured retaining and restoration of special status of the state, dialogue with separatists and other anti-nationals, confidence building measures, for estranged youth and other sections, gradual reduction of troops, and other pro-separatist measure, the tall election promises of BJP and its own fundamentals were conveniently ignored and consigned to the oblivion, he said.
"Not only did its 70 year old slogans on Art 370 and 35-A recede into the background but its slogans of zero tolerance against militancy and anti-nationals also evaporated into the thin air. Having succumbed over all Jammu related and nationalist issues, the BJP embraced power by paying a huge price for the same. It not only betrayed the sentiments of dogras but bartered away its own professed principles and age old philosophy to enjoy the fruits of power. It preferred expediency over ethics and power over principles. And now was the time when it would reap what it has sown," said Harsh.
Harsh said that raising of Pro-Pak slogans in the Assembly by a Kashmir based legislator in the presence of BJP MLAs was a grim reminder of BJP's wicked politicking and its most petrifying conduct while in power. He said that such episodes were some of the bad shots in the feet of BJP for which Jammu will have to limp for years.
