Early Times Report

Jammu, May 24: Four months after laying its foundation stone, the Kathua highway village is nowhere in sight. The 20 Cr project's foundation stone was laid amid much fanfare by former MoS, DR Jitender Singh at Logate Morh along National Highway.
Sources informed Early Times that just before the announcement of general elections of 2019, the MoS, Dr Jitender Singh laid a foundation stone of 20 Crores project of National Highway village which was constructed under National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and announced that the same project would be completed in phased manner. He announced further that the first phase of the project would be completed in 18 months from the date of announcement but ironically, four months have lapsed and nothing has moved since then.
Sources further said that before the election anger was brewing among the common people of Kathua against the sitting Member Parliament Dr Jitender Singh for partial approach towards Kathua and the minister concerned took the issue seriously and announced that a mega project announced near the Shar Khad near Logate Morh but the project is still confine to paper only.
"Addressing a gathering after stone laying ceremony, former Minister said that the NHAI had identified 183 sites to set up along the National Highway to provide amenities and said that the laying of foundation stone would open a new chapter in the overall development scenario of Kathua as the project is first of its kind in Jammu and Kashmir", said sources.
It is pertinent to mention here that under the project the facilities including a separate parking for cars, buses and trucks, restaurant/food court, low cost dhaba, telephone booth/ATM, fuel station and minor repair shop, restrooms for short-stay, clean toilets would be provided to passengers.
