JAMMU, Apr 29: Kavinder Gupta, senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister today released a book titled “Atimnirbhar Betiyaan” authored by Nisha Kapoor during a function held at Press Club Jammu.
The event was chaired by Padma Shree Jatinder Udhampuri, Sahitya Academy Awardee, distinguished Dogri poet, and former Director AIR. Kavinder Gupta, former Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, was the Chief Guest. Nirmal Vinod, an eminent Hindi and Dogri poet and Sahitya Academy awardee, graced the occasion as a Special Guest. Ashok Kumar, a noted Hindi scholar, attended as a Special Invitee, while Suman Pal, a renowned broadcaster, was the Guest of Honour. Author Nisha Kapoor and Adv. Harish Kaila, President of NDS, also shared the platform.
NDS honored the author with the “Sahiya Shree” Sansha Samman, along with a shawl and citation. Dr. Chanchal Sharma, a well-known Dogri poetess and announcer, presented a detailed analysis of the book.
The book focuses on the challenges, problems, needs, aspirations, strengths, weaknesses, and measures required to prepare young girls for economic independence and empowerment.
This motivational work suggests methods and strategies to attain prosperity, strength, self-confidence, self-belief, growth, and self-respect to fulfill their plans and goals. Duties of parents towards their daughters, family discipline, security, education, skills, and vocational entrepreneurship have been elaborated upon.
The author, with great passion for women’s empowerment, previously authored “Saksham,” also focused on this subject.
In his opening address, Capt. Lalit Sharma, IFS, APCCF (Retd), and Convener of NDS, emphasized the importance of empowering women, considering that half of our population comprises females.
Prof. Anupama Sharma, Patron of NDS, expressed that when established women of society themselves start working in this direction, the mission of economic empowerment can be achieved swiftly and in a meaningful and dignified manner.
Jatinder Udhampuri noted that the book serves as both motivational and directional for female students and young ladies, stressing the need to channelize societal synergy to make women self-reliant and economically strong.
Kavinder Gupta highlighted the available opportunities for young girls to choose any vocation and contribute to the nation’s progress, emphasizing the “Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao” mission for women’s security and empowerment.
Nirmal Vinod underscored the importance of education, security, and skills development for women’s self-reliance. Ashok Kumar emphasized the role of women in enhancing the financial standards of their families and contributing to the nation’s progress.
Nisha Kapoor expressed her passion for contributing to women’s empowerment, urging young girls to understand their needs, aspirations, and abilities, and to work diligently to achieve their life goals with discipline, self-respect, dedication, hard work, commitment, positivity, and a patriotic approach.
Arjun Dev Mohan, General Secretary of the Youth Wing NDS, extended a vote of thanks, commending the author on behalf of NDS for her inspirational work.
