According to reports, the authorities at Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag have arranged a bus for the faculty members so that they can move back to Srinagar without facing any inconvenience.
They said that those faculty members, who are being allowed to leave Associated Hospitals of Government Medical College Anantnag, are drawing House rent allowance (HRA) and as per norms are supposed to remain stationed.
“Since these faculty members are drawing House rent allowance therefore they have to make arrangements by themselves for staying in the district that too around the associated hospital of the GMC,” an officer told Early Times.
He said that top officials of Government Medical College were restoring to favoritism by allowing a selected group of faculty members to leave the hospital every day.
“Government Medical College authorities have even provided a pick and drop facility for those faculty members,” he said and alleged discrimination.
The authorities, they said, have adopted a discriminative approach and open favoritism and discrimination is affecting the work culture of the medical college despite creating Urban Rural divide.

Government Medical College has deputed three faculty members at Maternity and Child Care Hospital Anantnag but surprisingly two among them on leave and third one has left the hospital for attending a conference.
“After GMC take over Maternity and Child Care Hospital it has created a lot of confusion. Faculty members of GMC have virtually taken over all the affairs of the hospital and even at times Medical Superintend is being bypassed,” they said, adding duty roster is not even being shared with him.
Principal Government Medical College Anantnag, Dr Showket Jeelani, when contacted admitted that faculty members are leave station in violation of norms.
However, surprisingly he shielded faculty members by justifying it. “It is getting difficult for them to stay here as they couldn’t find private flats or rooms. Currently GMC Anantnag doesn’t have accommodation facility,” he said, adding he too is facing the same problem.
