Govt mulls to move Darbar creates apprehensions among moving employees
Continuation of existing arrangement sought

JAMMU, June 4: As Government has been mulling to initiate Darbar Move process after mid of this month, the move employees have expressed serious apprehensions on their as well as their families’ safety concern at this point of time terming the situation not conducive and demanded continuation of existing “as is where is basis” arrangement.
Sources told Early Times that government has been contemplating to initiate Darbar Move process after June 15 but the voices among the Jammu based move employees have started resonating to withhold the decision termed that the current grim situation arisen due to COVID-19 pandemic will not allow smooth functioning in Summer Capital.
It has been learnt that a delegation of move employees had also submitted a memorandum to the Chief Secretary in this connection demanding continuation of “as is where is basis” arrangement, wherein they expressed that situation has been getting worse with each passing day and in such condition the darbar move will not be in favour of employees. “Kashmir region particularly Srinagar has become most vulnerable place these days where most of the COVID-19 positive cases are being reported on daily basis there,” said some move employees on the condition of anonymity.
They further informed that various delegations of Jammu based move employees approached the unions regarding their concern by saying that it is not appropriate to leave their families alone in such circumstances. “It is not right time for Jammu based employees to move Srinagar as the COVID-19 pandemic has been spreading its tentacles day by day and current situation doesn’t allow to stay in Estates hired hotels at Srinagar where food is served from community kitchen and there are strong apprehensions of spreading of this deadly virus,” they maintained.
In the given situation, it will be is appropriate to consider the continuation of existing arrangement of working “as is where is basis” so that employee of both the regions may be able to take of their families and perform their duties till the situation improves, they added.
