After Sarore and Lakhanpur, BJP’s another plaza gift to Jammu
One more toll plaza is likely to come up near Akhnoor
Early Times Report
Jammu, June 4: Following intervention of some leaders authorities to Union Territory (UT) have announced to install equal number electronic meters in Jammu and Kashmir provinces respectively, the proposed new toll plaza coming up near Akhnoor is likely to create problem for leaders of BJP.
Although no official announcement regarding setting up new toll plaza near Akhnoor has been made, there are reports that this plaza would be set-up.
Earlier when toll plaza was established at Sarore, the BJP president, Ravinder Raina had announced to uproot the same but nothing has been done.
The decision of setting up toll plaza near Akhnoor is another shock to be given by BJP to the people of Jammu who are already annoyed with setting up toll plaza at Sarore and Lakhanpur. Instead of abolishing the existing toll plazas at Sarore and Lakhanpur, BJP government is going to give another gift to Jammuites. Duplicity of BJP leadership has already been exposed on the issue of abolishing Sarore Toll Plaza because publically one of party’s senior leaders had announced that after his letter this toll would be abolished.
On October 12, 2019 the senior BJP leader had claimed to have written a letter to Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari to scrap toll plaza after facing criticism for the operationalisation of the new toll plaza on the Jammu-Pathankot highway in the Sarore area of Samba district.
There is one toll plaza functioning at Ban on Jammu - Udhampur route and recently another toll plaza has been established and made functional at Sarore on the Jammu-Kathua route, while another toll plaza on the same route was established at Lakhanpur. Now one more tall plaza is proposed near Akhnoor.
