Jammu, Aug 11: The employees of Rural Development Department (RDD) Udhampur posted in far flung block offices of the district have allegedly got themselves attached with the offices of Assistant Commissioner Development and District Development Commissioner Udhampur.
Sources told Early Times that there are number of Block Development Offices in remote areas of district Udhampur, which have been facing shortage of manpower as most of the employees posted there are not willing to work in such a distant places, and with the result using their influence, they have got their attachment with other offices in main district headquarter.
“As many as seven RDD employees posted in one of the blocks from Section Officer (SO) to Class-IV have got attached themselves with Deputy Commissioner Office Udhampur. Similar is the position in other remote blocks like Mongri, Basantgarh, Latti etc.,” they said.
They further said that due to attachment syndrome, these blocks are facing huge shortage of manpower and the development works on ground have been suffering a lot. Over a dozen of employees have been enjoying their attachment, who are unwilling to go to their place of original postings.
Many Section Officers posted in several blocks mentioned above are attached in ACD Office. “Not only senior clerks, even the Gram Rozgar Sevaks, Village Level Workers, contractual employees serving in head offices of the department,” they informed.
They further said that the local representatives of PRIs have raised these issues with concerned authority a number of times but their plights remained unheard. “We have to suffer a lot due to delay in administrative works in the block offices. Only one or two employees have been handling the office affairs, which is the main cause of slow development works in many panchayats,” some panchayat representatives informed Early Times. The main objective of strengthening grassroots level government will not be fulfilled until its allied departments will not be functioning properly, they added. | | |
