| Mafia enjoying patronage of a senior NC leader eying migrants land in Srinagar | | | ET Report
Jammu, Oct 5: Two land grabbers enjoying patronage of a local National Conference leader are eying on the prime land of Kashmiri Pandits in Shalyar Habba Kadal in Srinagar on which the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar has issued the directives to authorities to auction the houses for the demolition as these structures are unsafe and will cause a havoc in case they collapse.
However, some Kashmiri Pandit leaders and the owners of these residential houses who are leading an exiled life for over last 23 years outside the Valley said that a mafia group having the patronage of a senior NC leader of the area wants to grab the prime land.
Sanjay Saraf national president Youth Lok Jan Shakti Party and patron Kashmir Amity Council and Vinod Pandit, chairman All Parties Migrant Coordination Committee (APMCC) who are pursuing the authorities not to go ahead with the demolition drive in view of the plea made by the owners of these residential houses to the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir said that under the pressure from the NC leader, the DC Srinagar has turned down their plea and issued orders to the concerned authorities to go-ahead with publication of a fresh auction notice as the previous notice issued by the authorities did not receive the public response.
The authorities have given the reason that these houses were in unsafe condition and can cause any catastrophe if they are not demolished immediately. However, the Pandit leaders tell a different story and they have accused the Government of making a mockery of PM's rehabilitation package. How can the Government issue the auction notice for the demolition of these houses without informing their owners, said an agitated Saraf. He alleged this is a ploy to erode the roots of Pandits from Valley altogether as after demolition their houses after forcing them to leave the Valley under a well hatched conspiracy, Pandits will hardly think of returning to their homes and hearths, he added.
He said this is a sinister design in which besides some officer in administration the leaders of NC are also involved. Making a scathing attack on NC he said the Party leaders were shedding crocodile tears on return of Pandits and in heart of heart they are not interested in the same. Had it not been so the PM's employment package would have not been delayed till date, he added.
``It is not understood that on one hand the Government is talking about the return of the Pandits to Valley and on the other hand they are demolishing our houses and other structures, besides grabbing the migrants land for public purposes'', said Vinod Pandita.
He warned that Pandit organizations will be forced to march to Union Capital and stage a protest in front of Parliament against this attitude of the State Government. ``We maintained a lot of silence over last 23 years otherwise we fully know that which Party and leaders were responsible for mass exodus of the community in 1989-90'', he added.
He demanded immediate action against the two land grabbers who have made the Circular road Division of PWD as their own property and did not allow any one to seek the papers and other details about the migrant land and property from there. |
