Pathania gives right, left and center to Bhim
`He changes loyalties for cash, gets money from Abdullahs'

ET Report
Jammu, Jan 8: The District Congress chief of Udhampur, Bhupinder Singh Pathania has leveled allegations ranging from changing loyalties frequently in lieu of money to distorting the history of Ramnagar.
Pathania linked Bhim's tirade against the Congress to his son R.S. Pathania's press conference last week wherein he had demanded an enquiry into wealth amassed by MLA Ramnagar, which, according to him was disproportionate to his known sources of income.
He also wanted the enquiry to expose the politician-contractor nexus in Ramnagar in the light of startling revelations made in response to RTI queries made by my son.
"The Constituency Development Fund (CDF) is being utilized in Ramnagar in violation of set norms and codal formalities and funds under the head, 'non-plan' and 'additionalities' are being gobbled up by blue-eyed favourites of the MLA", Pathania said.
He expressed surprise over Bhim's statement in which he has made a mention of Abdullahs. "The Abdullahs have otherwise been feeding him and his Panthers Party with bag folds of cash and kind for the past three decades", he disclosed.
On Bhim's political `somersaults', he said: "I have personally seen him occupying a room in late Prem Nath Dogra's house and rubbing shoulders with RSS cadre during the years 1956-57. I have seen him working for the ruling National Conference in lieu of regular financial aid from late Bakshi Ghulam Mohammad from 1958-1962 and from late GM Sadiq from early 1964 to 1965-end. I have seen him working for Dr Karan Singh who had sent him out for Foreign Studies in early 70's and lavished lakhs on him from 1967-1980. And finally I have seen him pocketing currency bundles from Finance Minister, A.R. Rather in presence of ex-MLA Om Chopra to meet the heavy expenses he and his NPP had incurred on fielding 30-odd candidates in 1996 elections."
Continuing his onslaught, Bhupiner said, "As for his long political journey from school days till date, he had left Praja Parishad to join ruling NC in 1958, he had left ruling NC to float Student's Congress in 1964 and further switched over to Indian Congress the following year. He had joined Congress in 1967 under the leadership of Dr Karan Singh and had continued his associations with it even after his return from studies abroad. He had also worked in Youth Congress then headed by me till 1975. He left Congress in March 1977 to fight Lok Sabha election as an Independent from Jammu-Poonch segment but rejoined it on being given a Congress mandate for Chenani Assembly segment in 1977 and at long last, he floated his family enterprise under the name and style of National Panthers Party presently headed by his two MLA-nephews, Harsh Dev and Balwant Singh. I have also seen him seeking choice favours from Ghulam Nabi Azad while fondling with the latter's offer of merging Panthers Party with Congress. I have also seen him selling stories of sorts to Mufti Sayeed, Mirwaiz Farooq and a battery of Kashmir-based leaders."
Accusing Bhim of distorting history of Ramnagar, the Congress leader said:
"As regards his sky-tall and historically perverse boast that Chenotras were a ruling clan a century or two back, it were rather the Bandral Rajputs who ruled for about four-five centuries prior to late Raja Ram Singh, late Maharaja Partap Singh's younger brother who was assigned giant of Jagir of 'Bandralta' renamed as Ramnagar by the people of the area. This is part of history of Ramnagar that Chenotras, the elders say that they were proclaimed outlaws detrimental to the peace and order of late Raja Ram Singh's Jagir and if it was to save people from their loot, lawlessness and anarchy that Bhim Singh's grandfather was buried alive in the Southern wall of the royal Smadhis standing mid-town.
He also furnished information about Dr Thakar Dass, Ramnagar MLA's father. "He was no doubt a 'desi vaid' having had put in 4 to 5 years in the Army and deserted it later on. He had first contested an Assembly election from Ramnagar in 1962 securing less than 300 votes. He was also a Congress office bearer for 25-long years but had fought second Assembly elections from Chenani segment on NPP mandate in the year 1987", he revealed.
Pathania's association with Bhim Singh dates back to late 50s. They have been class fellows and political adversaries within and outside the party for three decades.
