DIET Doda loots students, swindles over Rs 8 lakh
In 2011 authorities cheated poor students who had registered for class 8th examination

Jammu, Sept 25: A notification No DSEJ/Po/PS/1298-1319 DATED 18-05 2011, item number (6) laid down the guidelines including registration fee @ Rs 10 and examination fees @ Rs 100/- to be charged from the students. Out of the total amount of Rs 110/ per student, Rs 70 were supposed to be retained by the e Principal DIETs and Rs 40/- was to be remitted to SIE Jammu.
However, later it was decided to Rs 35 only will be remitted to SIE-Jammu. Since then the process continues. But DIET Doda charged Rs 180/- from the regular student and Rs 240/- from the private candidate registered for middles standard examination for the session Oct/Nov 2011.
It was later found that all the examination zones in the district ahd followed the pattern while Thathri Zone charged @ Rs 190 from each student.
ZEO Bhaderwah Ram Prashad and his staffers have confirmed that Rs 180 per were charged from 938 students who had registered from Bhaderwah Education Zone. Similarly the staff in ZEO office Bhalla confirmed that for the year 2011 Oct /Nov, examination fees for the Middle Standard examination was charged at the rate of Rs 185 per candidate and the total number of candidates was 511 ( 507 regular an 4 private).
An employee of the ZEO office Ghat after confirming from a teacher of a school of his zone told that in the year 2011, Rs 190 per candidate.
ZEO Bhalessa, Mr Dhayan having joined recently was not aware of the notification and charged Rs 190 per student was charged for the year 2011 Oct/Nov.
A total number of 10166 students were registered to appear for the middle standard examination from Doda district and the total fees supposed to be collected from them was Rs 11, 18,260 at the rate of Rs 110/ per students but the authorities collected Rs 18, 29, 880 from the poor students. .
The amount was collected at the rate of Rs 180, 185 and 190 per students which include an excess amount of Rs 7, 11, 620. The excess money over Rs 8 lakhs has been swindled by few officials who allegedly enjoy patronage of some politicians.
It has been confirmed by the SIE officials that DIET Doda remitted Rs 3,55, 810 at the rate of Rs 35 per student for 10166 students in two installments of Rs 50, 830 and Rs 3,04,980.
The scam has evoked severe reaction from the people and intervention of the higher authorities has been sought.
