In support of General VK Singh
Bhim calls the NC bluff
9/25/2013 11:56:23 PM

Neha
Jammu, Sept 25: People may say that JKNPP chief patron Bhim Singh's approach to many issues facing Jammu & Kashmir is not consistent, but it is a fact that he on occasions does take up right issues at right time without fear or favour. On Tuesday, he, like a true Indian, made common cause with former Army chief General V K Singh and described the charges levelled against him as baseless. "Allegations against former Army Chief, General V K Singh are politically motivated, malafide and without substance. If these allegations that money was paid to a minister or so and that too only three crores on record deserve appreciation that General V.K. Singh kept all such transactions intact and on record so that the functionaries would know the working of the so-called technical support division allegedly run under the Army supervision," he said while reacting to the highly controversial statements made by the various NC and Congress leaders, including a few ministers, all opposed to General V K Singh whose track record is inspiring and praiseworthy.
Bhim Singh not only lambasted the NC and Congress leaders for unleashing a vilification campaign against General V K Singh but also tore into NC working president and Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who, like Kashmiri separatists, has been questioning the accession of the state to India and vouching for a system that is outside the Indian Constitutional framework and based on pernicious regressive ideology. He called the Omar Abdullah's bluff and asked him as to why he did not accept CBI probe into the custodial death of Yousuf Haji on September 29, 2011. "Why even a FIR on his custodial death has not be registered in police station?", he asked. He also asked the Chief Minister, who has failed the state and virtually become part of the ongoing secessionist movement, as to why he did not order "CBI inquiry into the circumstances that led to Kishtwar riots (read violence against a particular community) resulting into death of three innocent persons and causing immense damage to the private and public property?"
The JKNPP leader hit the nail on the head when he demanded, and very rightly, that the "secret funds kept at the disposal of all the Chief Ministers, the Governors and Army Chiefs should be made public" and that the "disbursement of the secret funds since 1947, particularly in Jammu & Kashmir should be made public". He, in addition, shared the view of the former Army chief and demanded stringent action against the person who leaked out the top secret report of Defence Ministry to certain individuals in the media and said that the episode has lowered the morale of our soldiers and undermined the institution of Army.
Indeed, Bhim Singh's intervention was very timely. Will Omar Abdullah and ilk reveal the whole truth and order CBI inquiries into the issues the Panthers chief raised?
