Jammu, Nov 29: Ruling National Conference has begun to indulge in acts which it is expected to do as elections would come closer- taking full credit of anything and everything that coalition has done in its tenure, though there is hardly anything substantial they can count and bank upon. Yet in order to reap the benefits at hustings, it would try to project everything to its credit to win over the voters. This is the practice seen in the past and is something normal it would resort to similar ways this time too. There are such ample instances to substantiate what NC would be upto in a deft manner , as to not hurt its ally by any means. It has done so today ,albeit in a tactful manner yet again
It was stated by none other than the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah himself that said his initiative to address unemployment and seek welfare of youth is above all political considerations and Sher-i-Kashmir Employment and Welfare Programme for Youth (SKEWPY) is completely an apolitical measure of his government. That unemployment has been an issue of all political parties over which all leaders have been expressing concern in unequvivocal terms is a known fact. Be it those in opposition like PDP, BJP, JKNPP and even in the parties in coalition, unemployment is something over which they share same platform, is so far as addressing it by fastest means and ways is concerned. In that context Omar Abdullah is right if he says his government is keen and concerned to provide relief to the educated umemployed youth.
However, to call SKEWPY a non political scheme and term its implementation in the state on non political considerations is something ridiculous and laughable. Even a politically naive person would not buy this statment made by the Chief Minister while addressing a function to celebarte the success of a youth from as far off a place as Dacchan. The success story of the boy in setting up his entrepreneurship may be inspiring for others who are striving to achieve such goals with whatever aid is provided under SKEWPY. On the other hand, if NC is trying to score gains by using chosen vocabulary like apolitical and non political considerations, it would be unpalatable to even its ally COngress. For if the concept is so, why NC in the first place has chosen to name the scheme after the founder of the party late sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, no matter he was a towering leader of the state. Opposition PDP has instances and cases galore to prove that benefits under
the scheme have been reaped hugely , if not completely by the cadres and supporters of the NC.
Second, if it was so as commented by CM today that SKEWPY is an apolitical initiative, why in today's function, which even thouh a small scale of entrepreneurship meet of budding entrepreneurs , was attended by the ministers of the National Conference alone, all of them seniormost leaders of the party. There was no Congress minister, not even of junior level in the function held today.
