Were people angry only against NC and not against Congress in J&K ? | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 17 : The Pradesh Congress Chief,Saif-ud-Din Soz,has said that the National Conference lost all the three Lok Sabha seats in the Kashmir valley because of anger of people against the National Conference. When the Congress lost the three seats in the regions of Jammu and Ladakh was it the outcome of peoples' anger against the Congress or the capacity of the BJP to outwit the party led by Soz ? This question can be answered only by Soz who has claimed that despite the congress support the NC candidates could not win because of peoples' anger against the NC . Does he mean that despite the support from NC workers, activists and leaders the Congress failed to win a single seat out of three it had contested? Does he mean that loss faced by the congress was also the result of peoples' anger against the NC ? Does Soz still believe that people in the regions of Jammu and Ladakh were not angry against the Congress but against the NC when the NC had not fielded any candidate in Jammu,Udhampur and Ladakh constituencies? Soz should not conceal the fact that while the Modi wave had hit Jammu region it was the PDP wave in the Kashmir valley. This is indicated by the way the tallest political figure like Farooq Abdullah losing to a political light weight Hameed Qarra. Had not the Modi wave hit Jammu region it would not have been possible for the BJP to win two seats from the region. What has amazed political pundits is the Modi wave having entered into the Ladakh region where a BJP backed independent candidate won.If he won with a margin of 36 votes it does not matter so long win is a win and different from defeat.Similarly the Kashmir valley had been swept by the PDP or to be specific by the Muftis wave. In fact the Modi wave or the PDP wave hitting the region of Jammu and the vale of Kashmir respectively is the outcome of peoples' anger against the Congress and the National Conference. If people in the Jammu region rejected the Congress candidates it was because majority of people were angry against the Congress having forged an alliance with the NC.And if the NC candidates from the three constituencies in the Kashmir valley it was the result of peoples' anger against the NC for having finalized a pre-poll alliance and for sharing power with the Congress. Besides this, poor governance, failure of the ruling coalition to tackle unemployment, energy crisis, poor industrial growth, and corruption also contributed to the defeat of the candidates belonging to the NC and the Congress. In Jammu region people were also angry against the Congress and the NC for not having fulfilled their commitment to end regional discrimination.Anger against the Congress in the Jammu region was the result of the failure on the part of the Congress to set up new delimitation commission. Dissensions within the state unit of the Congress too forced the Congress to lose its teeth. Now that the Assembly election is round the corner the Congress and the NC need to set their house in order and improve the functioning of the ruling coalition. |
