Congress not to backtrack, coalition to complete term

Javaid Naikoo

Srinagar, May 17: Rejecting all speculations of Congress backtracking from ongoing coalition in Jammu and Kashmir, JKPCC vice president Ghulam Nabi Monga said that incapable candidates and dishonest workers of NC were responsible for shameful defeat of coalition partners in Jammu and Kashmir.
Talking to Early Times, Ghulam Nabi Monga said that congress is committed to its stand to support National Conference till last day of its tenure as a ruling party."There is no chance of backtracking from NC before its official expiry date," he said.
"The incapable candidates which NC fielded had their own issues, they were not acceptable by the people of Kashmir, also dishonest workers of NC could not do much on the ground and results are before us all now," he added.
He said that it is too early to talk about coalition with National Conference for forthcoming Assembly elections in the state and added that State Congress is yet to take any final decision in that context. JKPCC vice president said that NC leadership in general and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in particular has his own opinion on each and everything, yet state Congress equally feels altered the way this historical defeat shook NC camp.
He said that hatred against National Conference prevalent in length and breadth of the state has given PDP victory with honour. "All leaders including myself, Soz and others supported NC candidates but failed to get votes for them," he said.
He said cross voting incidents were reported in North and South Kashmir and there was a polarization of votes in Jammu division as well, followed by wave of anti incumbency which according to him caused the defeat of Coalition candidates.
He said that without worrying for results and competition, Congress leadership has to work hard once again as a unit and gain the momentum which his party had achieved across the state over the years and added that state Congress badly needs to reach to the people and continue to serve them in the best possible manner they can.
