Tourism at receiving end, PDD ignorant | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 8: Jammu tourism is in trouble, thanks to huge shortage of electricity in the state. Summer is the peak season for Jammu tourism as tourists come to pay homage to Vaishno Devi shrine. However, power cut could spoil the summer season for Jammu this year. The story of Jammu is similar to several states across India. During the summer, rise in power demand leads to massive power cuts across the country. Jammu is too victim of power cuts. There are power cuts of over 8 to 10 hours in Jammu and several nearby cities. This is bad news for tourism industry as tourists are looking to stay clear of Jammu due to power cuts. While some hotels have facility of generators to counter the electricity deficit, small scale hotels that are flooded by pilgrims on their way to Vaishno Devi offer no relief to the tourists. As a result, tourists are forced to bear huge power cuts in Jammu. Tourists in Jammu are advising others not to visit during the summer season. People are being advised to visit the shrine of Vaishno Devi during the winter season. |
