Sports & Allied News JAMMU, June 09: Reputed faculty of Political Science from Delhi, RK Jha today guided the KAS and IAS aspirants of the state in a workshop conducted by the SR College of Competition, here. The faculty gave important suggestions to the target students with regard to the subject. He suggested that for appearing in such examinations Western political thoughts and thinkers should be thoroughly understood in both Prelims as well Mains. "The basic concept and fundamentals of the subject must be clearly understood. While preparing the subject, International Relation (IR) must be connected with the current information, especially India's foreign policy perspectives," he informed. He further elaborated that the writing ability and technique was essential for securing good marks in Mains exams whereas for Prelim objectives practice was essential. Students were also informed about the important aspect of interlinking of topics to understand the basics of the subject. "Political Science is also helpful in the General Studies paper because in this subject the Indian Polity and IR is a major part. It helps in preparing for both IAS and KAS exams," Jha mentioned. JAMMU, June 9: Outplaying district Ramban, Kulgam boys today lifted the title trophy in under-14 inter-district state level volleyball tournament which was organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at Government Higher Secondary School, Akhnoor. It was not an easy outing for Kulgam boys, who lost the opening set 23-25 by a thin margin. However, they clinched the following set making it 25-19 thereby leveled the game score. In the deciding set, Kulgam played patiently maintaining the early lead to finally take away the all important game 2-1. The score: 23-25, 25-21, 15-12. In the final and valedictory function of the state level competition, Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma was chief Guest, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies as also other individual prizes. Speaking to the gathering of participating teams and officials of the host department, Minister laid emphasis on participation of students in physical activities in their day to day light so as to build healthy body and sound mind. Later, Deputy Director of DYSS, Kanchan Bala presented vote of thanks amidst appreciation of the staff for successful conduct of the event.
SHCE celebrates Nirjal Ekadashi

KCGPS students selected for Sub-Junior National Petanque C’ship

SRINAGAR, June 9: District Pulwama and Anantnag won their respective matches on the opening day of the inter-district state level under-17 boys' football tournament being held under the banner of Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at different venues, here today. District Pulwama trounced district Samba while Anantnag made it a 2-1 win against district Kathua in another scheduled match played at Government Higher School, Zadibal ground. In all, 11 teams, representing different districts of the state, are taking part in this competition on knock-out basis.
Ajay of Udhampur wins Sarna Kesari dangal

JAMMU, June 9: Ajay Sharma of Landen Power House Udhampur lifted the 4th Annual Sarna Kesari Dangal, organized by Sarna Dangal Committee in collaboration with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, at Sarna near Katra in district Reasi In the main bout, Ajay defeated Kulbir Singh of Kot Bhawal to receive a cash prize of Rs 3,000 from chief guest, president J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma. Runners-up, Kulbir presented with Rs 2,000 prize by Naib Sarpanch, Som Raj and Numberdar, Rattan Singh. Sarpanch Onkar Singh presided over the function while Ganesh Singh and Ashok Kumar were among those prominent present. In all, 41 bouts took place in this dangal. The second main bout went to Babba of Kot Bhawal, who beat Balwan Singh of Mahore. In third bout, Gopal Sharma of Jindrah emerged winner beating Murad Ali of Domana while Swarn Singh of Kot Bhawal won the fourth bout outplaying Liakat Ali of Panthal. Bouts officiated by Bishamber Dass, Angraj Singh, Murli Dhar (Munna), Abdul Rehman Panch and Tara Chand. Workshop on Inclusive Teaching Methodology held Jammu, June 9: Jammu Sanskriti School organized a workshop on Inclusive Teaching Methodology in the school premises. Trilok Singh Bisht (Principal Jodhamal Public School) was the recourse person. It was a very lively workshop with the participation of all the teachers. Bisht stressed on the overall development of child personality and said that teacher should have strength to be adaptive and break the monotony in the class room situations usher in new ideas. It is important to have stimulating & purposeful surroundings to equip the students with skills required to face the challenges of future. Various methods & ideas were shared to support and make the students able to use their intelligence and skills judiciously.
