Srinagar, June 9: Asserting there are glaring shortcomings in the President's address, Prof Saifuddin Soz today said that the President's address appeared to be document of 'disjointed assertions.' According to a statement issued here, Soz said that it seems the Union Cabinet did not apply its mind seriously on the address. "There are glaring shortcomings in the address,' he said. "The address mentions Government's desire for promoting growth but, the Government is not prepared for making any commitment. Similarly there is no definite commitment on rejuvenation of the infrastructure, Prof Soz said. Soz said, "The address unfortunately does not even mention the new Govt's intention about inclusive growth. The address neither indicates road map for growth nor for rejuvenation of infrastructure. What is then, the model for development about which the party in power talked hoarse during the Election campaign. "It has become clear that new government has not desired to do justice to the weaker sections of society, especially the minorities." The PCC president said that the address talks about the modernization of Madrassas well, that is the ongoing process, I don't think the new Government is going to do anything more. "The real problems of the Muslims have not been addressed at all. For instance, what is the new Government's Model for making Muslims partners in political and economic development of the country," he added. He said that what will the new Government want to do for growing unemployment of educated youth of this community, what about implementation of the Sachar Committee recommendations which had been accepted by the UPA government then, J&K State has been left out high and dry. "The New Government has not even mentioned the need for infrastructure development of the State. It is for the first time that J&K State has been neglected. It is also not clear as to what the New Government wants to exactly do for Kashmir Pandits. The Government has failed even to offer lip service to refugees in the J&K State. The address has missed it all." |
