Udhampur clash: BJP unlikely to take action against any leader | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 9: BJP's much touted "Mission 44 Plus" kicked start from historical town of Udhampur where two groups of the "disciplined" party clashed for one-upmanship. In the Lok Sabha elections, BJP had secured huge lead on this seat so a number of senior leaders are staking claims on Udhampur Assembly segment. Udhampur episode has exposed bickering in the disciplined BJP and this infighting is likely to be intensified in the days to come because party attained power at Delhi, a number of leaders are ready to join the party. Credible sources in the BJP said that episode at Udhampur has given a severe setback to party's "Mission 44 Plus" because this episode has exposed situation in the party. Notwithstanding warning given by the leadership to both the leaders, whose supporters had created uproar during Udhampur function, BJP leadership is in dilemma over taking action against any of the two leaders. Credible sources in BJP said that party has realized that action against any of the leader would be proved counter-productive for the party in the ensuring Assembly elections. Pawan Gupta and Pawan Khajuria both have their own strength so party leadership is hesitating to take any action in this regard. Pawan Gupta is son of former MLA and mass leader of Udhampur late Lala Shiv Charan Gupta. On the other hand Pawan Khajuria is young face of the party. As chairman of the Udhampur Municipal Committee, Pawan Khajuria had proved his capability of the dynamic leader. Action against any of the leader would send wrong message among party cadre in particular and common masses in general. |
