Slow recruitment mars career of unemployed youth | | | Shakeel A Khan
SRINAGAR, June 10: The slow process of recruitment in Jammu Kashmir ruins the career of the youth. This is what most of the unemployed youth of the state believe. The people in power perhaps have no idea as the number of job aspirants is about to cross the one million mark. "Making statements regarding the relaxation in upper age limit is not going to benefit the hundreds of thousands of unemployed youth of the state. This all is aimed at silencing the voices of the concerned unemployed youth," said Malik Javaid from Srinagar while talking to EARLY TIMES. Javaid is of the view that the people in power have realized that they are in troubled waters and that is why they are making such desperate statements which according to him are not going to benefit them. Another youth, Suhail Ganaie supported the ideas or Malik Javaid saying that the recruitment drives, if any, isn't transparent because the people who are influential in the corridors of power have their say in the process as it provides them with a chance to make wealth. The retirement age of the employees which has been increased by two years, is not going to address the problems of unemployment. The policies adopted by the government recently should have been youth centric particularly of those who are highly qualified but still without a job. "It is the criminal act of the people in power to enhance the retirement age of its employees by two years which is no way a remedial measure to coup with the problem of unemployment. This is not going to address the growing concerns of the unemployed lot," said Irshad Akram from Budgam while talking to Early Times. Irshad lamented that enhancing the retirement age and relaxing the upper age limit are the moves aimed at silencing the voices as the government has nothing to offer in terms of employment. As per Irshad, it is the unhealthy attitude of the people in power that has worsened the problems of unemployment. The unemployed youth of the state apprehend that announcement regarding the filling up of one lakh posts is nothing but an act of cheating which according to them is aimed at hoodwinking the people, particularly the youth before the coming assembly elections. "My son has got the degree of doctorate in agricultural sciences but is working as Rehbare Zirat (RZ). It is of no use to pursue highest degree of education which does not ensure a respectable earning. A person with degree of doctorate working as RZ is nothing but a slap on his face," said a person wishing not to be named. |
