USTA stages protest, highlights long pending demands | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 10: Hundreds of activists of J&K United School Teachers Association (USTA) gathered at Press Club Jammu today under the leadership of Hari Singh Provincial President and held a protest demonstration to project long pending demands of teaching community and non-teaching staff of the state run schools. While speaking on the occasion Provincial President Hari Singh criticized the state Government for not releasing Salary continuously for last more than six month in favour of teachers working under SSA scheme and salary under RMSA and NPS is not regular. Speakers also condemned the State Government for introducing the new pension scheme in the state and demanded suitable transfer of masters and lecturers who have completed their tenure in far flung areas including Ladakh district by adopting foolproof transparent transfer policy. Rajeev Kumar General secretary called upon the authorities to immediately include 5 year period of ReT teachers in their service record, allocate 6% of GDP on education and stop privatization & communalization of education and etc. Other demands raised during this demonstration included Enact right to Education bill in J&K, fill all vacant posts of Teachers in schools through recruitment, provide infrastructure in new primary schools, transfer policy for regularized REeT Teachers, Leave encashment at retirement for school teachers at Haryana pattern, enhance wages of ReT Teachers from Rs 3000 to Rs.10.000, DPC in favour of all categories of teachers and all other employees in education Department after every six months and release 10% DA with effect from Jan 2014. Latter on a rally was taken out up to Dogra Chowk carrying placards displaying their demands and shouting slogans. Among others namely Banarsi Dass, Dr Shashi Pal Singh, Chamel Singh, Rajeshwar Sharma, Siraju Din, Julfkar Ali Malik, Pardeep Singh, Sajad Mirza, Raj Kumar, Kishori Lal, Rattan Singh and Shanti Saroop participated in this protest. |
