One year RI to store-keeper after 18 years trial

Jammu, June 10 : Special Judge Anticorruption CBI Cases J&K Kaneez Fatima today awarded one year imprisonment and fine Rs 20,000 to Roop Singh then Store-keeper in Garrison Engineering Wing after 18 years investigation and trial. According to the CBI case that on July 31, 1997 a source information was received by CBI office Jammu wherein it was alleged that accused Roop Singh and other Incharge Officials while working in the office of GE 574 Engineering Park Rajouri during the year 1992-93 entered into criminal conspiracy in furtherance whereof scrap material weighing 13988.77 Kgs of Iron scrap, 29 KG of Cooper scrap and 2 kG of Brass Scrap worth Rs 73043 was misappropriate and registered a case and after completion of investigation challan was presented.
Today after hearing Special PP KS Pathania appearing for the CBI, Special Judge Anticorruption CBI Cases J&K Kaneez Fatima observed that accused is found guilty of offence u/ss 409 RPC and 5(2) r/w 5(1) (d) of J&K PC Act and awarded one year rigorous imprisonment and fine Rs 20,000. (JNF)
