Hyped employment initiative "UDAAN" crash lands! | | | Bivek Mathur JAMMU, June 10: Projected as major employment initiative for the youth of the state by Omar Government, the hyped UDAAN seems to have grounded with a thud with greed and gluttony of the vested interest creeping in. According to five students of Jammu namely Arun Kumar Sharma (Electrical Engineer), Ankush Gupta (Mechanical Engineer), Arooj Sharma (Electronic Engineer), Mukesh Kumar (Electronic Engineer) and Nitan Verma (Civil Engineer), all UDAAN trainees of batch to Hyderabad mailed their complaint to Early Times complaining that they were victims of deceit in the name of UDAAN. According to the mailed content, these five students were recruited in the month of February this year for Reliance 4G installation by the UDAAN partner "Future Group". On March 1, they started their soft skills training in Numind Consultancy Pvt. Ltd. Gurgaon. On April 4, these five aspirants got offer letter from a Secunderabad based vendor for On Job Training (OJT). They said the offer letter which they got from a vendor namely Gopi Krishna Electronics when searched on web was found that he was a local electronic vendor, situated in Bowenpally, Secundarabad. They further alleged that during the training period, they were not provided registration number ID Card. Despite working in risky conditions while installation of 4G Network in high voltage electricity, they were not given any insurance benefit, which they were promised during the recruitment through the UDAAN project. "We were promised a stipend of Rs. 2500 will be paid to every trainee, but we were deceived again as nothing was paid by the agency during field work. As far as our lunch expenses are concerned, nothing was paid, we were promised Rs. 50 but again nothing was paid. With this, no local Sim Card was provided despite promising Rs 400 per month for mobile expenses" complained aspirants. The trainee have also alleged in the compliant that they were made to stay in sub human conditions and five of them were huddled together in a room meant for two. "On 2nd of May, the same problems were also highlighted through mail with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), New Delhi which was replied on 8th May. Although some of the problems have been sorted out but major issues are still remained unaddressed, alleged complainants. |
