Core Committee Meeting at Delhi: BJP decides to lure some potential Kashmiri leaders | Party in touch with some Valley based leaders of NC, Cong | | Early Times report
JAMMU, June 11: In the core committee meeting of BJP, which was held at New Delhi at the residence of party national president and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, party has decided to lure some potential Kashmir leaders to accomplish Mission 44 Plus. Credible sources in the BJP said that during the core committee meeting some party leaders mentioned that without getting some seats from Kashmir Valley it will be impossible for the BJP to emerge as single largest party in Assembly elections. "During the meeting it was decided that some potential Kashmiri leaders who have ability to win Assembly elections, should be lured to join BJP", sources said and added that state leaders, who were present in the meeting, gave their consent to approach some the strong Kashmiri leaders of main-stream political parties. Sources said that BJP high command has already prepared a list of nearly a dozen potential leaders of some main stream parties who can be lured to join the party. These leaders, who have nationalist approach, have already established contact with BJP through some emissaries. Kashmiri leaders, who have contacted with BJP through emissaries, belong to National Conference and Congress party. Some other leaders are also approached by BJP leadership to join the party. Recently BJP state general secretary Ashok Koul and some other senior leaders had visited Kashmir Valley and interacted with cross sections of the society. "During his visit to Kashmir Valley, Ashok Koul had met some of the national leaders belonging to different political parties to test the water", source said and added that response of these leaders was positive. Some of the leaders had suggested BJP leadership that instead of joining the party they should be allowed to contest elections as independent candidates by entering into alliance with BJP and after the election they would join the party. "BJP leadership is looking into all suggestions given by these Kashmiri leaders", sources said and added that decision in this regard would be made very soon. |
