| DB asks J&K Govt to explain procedure for appointment of public prosecutors | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 11(JNF): Division Bench of State High Court Comprising Chief Justice MM Kumar and Justice Hasnain Masoodi today in a PIL about appointment of Public Prosecutor today directed the state government to file comprehensive status report before the August 4, 2014, explaining the system of appointment of Public Prosecutor at all levels.
Division Bench further directed that a comprehensive status report be also filed with regard to the status of recommendations made by the Committee headed by Advocate General. A detailed objections/ reply be also filed before the next date of hearing.
While issuing direction to the state in this PIL, Division Bench observed that heard the arguments in this Public Interest Litigation at some length, however, at the time of dictating order, division Bench unable to find any objections/reply having been filed by the state Govt and the issue raised in this PIL is extremely important in which a prayer has been made for bringing in position an effective mechanism for appointment of Public Prosecutors at every level and in the absence of any clear stand taken by the state, Division bench feel handicapped in framing the judgment.
