Students, Scholars protest against JU authorities | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 11: Student Scholar Joint Action Committee (SSJAC) held a protest in the Jammu University (JU) authorities in which large number of students and scholars amid sloganeering alleged Vice Chancellor JU and other concerned for mismanagement, misinformation and mishandling the academics & administration in the Jammu University. Lovedeep Singh Mankotia who led the protest said, "VC -JU Prof Mohan Pal Singh has failed to redress the problem of the scholars and students. He said that in the department of sociology scholars have denied NET, JRF passed students but have doled out Ph. D research to some blue eyed students. Nishi Slathia, Balwinder Kour and Saroj Sani all scholars from the Department of Regional and Strategic Studies (DRSS) alleged JU authorities are working under the pressure of some influential political leaders which are hell bent destroy the sanctity of the Jammu University. They alleged that appointments of the various officers are being made in the university in clandestine manner and incompetent officer have been appointed at the cost of deserving candidates. Alleging authoritarian attitude of JU authorities, Nishant Verma said that JU has banned the entry of some student leaders who raised the voice against the mismanagement and unethical attitude of the university authorities. Demanding immediate removal of the Vice Chancellor, SSJAC urged chancellor to replace him with a high credential professor from outside the state to streamline the university. |
