Udhampur-Katra Rail link finally ready: GM | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 11: Udhampur-Katra rail link is finally ready. About 25 kms railway track for the Udhampur-Katra is finally completed and is ready for the trains to carry pilgrims, General Manager Northern Railways, Pardeep Kumar Aggarwal told reporters on his arrival at Katra, the base camp of Mata Vaishno Devi. General Manager alongwith senior railway officials this afternoon at 1245 hours reached at Katra today in 15 boogie special train from Delhi via Udhampur. The mega project is ready and we are satisfied with the preparedness', said Mr Aggarwal. He added all the technical snags including some on Jhajjar bridge had been rectified and track is ready for the trains. All the facilities and arrangements at Katra Railway Station are also in place and the station is ready to welcome the pilgrims arriving Katra, the GM Railways said. He, however, said as per the sources in railway ministry Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to inaugurate the project between the June 23-25. The final report is prepared and will be submitted to Chairman Railways tomorrow at New Delhi, he added. The General Manager returned back to Delhi via Udhampur in the special train at around 1445 hours. |
