Jammu, June 11: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra has launched 5-years integrated dual degree in M.Sc Economics and Masters in Computer Application (MCA).
Addressing a press conference, Vice Chancellor, SMVDU, S K Jain said that for the first in the country a university is going to provide integrated dual degree in M.Sc Economics in five years.
He informed that the students after passing higher secondary exams from any board or university can apply. He said the in first batch the intake capacity was 30 which would be enhanced after the completion of ongoing construction of hostels in University campus. "In five years we would provide two degrees including B.Sc Honors and M.Sc Economics. The students will also sharps their skills like communication personality development and soft skills in 5 years" he said and added "The curriculum includes the courses and topics which equip students to carry out lucrative emerging jobs in the top level MNCs, including Indian MNCs".
He added that the program would enable the students to compete for the upcoming enormous job market in analytics, consulting and large data base research. The major companies and recruiters of such graduates will be Bain, BCG, McKinsey, Accenture, KPMG, Microsoft, Genpact, PWC, Google, Adobe, GE,HSBC, AMEX, IBM, JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley, S&P, Moody's, CRISIL,CIBIL,TCS, Infosys, HCl, Wipro Technologies and Barclays Bank.
Briefing about MCA, he said that MCA program from which the minimum qualification is graduation in any stream with Computer Science, IT, Electronics, Mathematics, Statistics and with minimum 60% marks. The admission in the programme would be through an Entrance test to be held on July 7th, 2014. He informed SMVD University has introduced the provision of Assistantship to the students Joining Ph.D. program at SMVDU on full-time basis who have qualified UGC NET. |
