SKUAST-J teaching association appeals Governor to enhance retirement age up to 65 yrs | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 11: SKUAST-Jammu Teaching Association appealed to the Governor, who is also Chancellor of SKUAST-Jammu for increase in the retirement age of Varsity Scientists from 60 to 65 years. According to press release, chairing a meeting of SKUAST-TAJ office bearers, Dr. Vikas Sharma, President of the association said that Central University of Kashmir, Central University of Jammu, Maulana Azad Urdu University, Srinagar and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Jammu have 65 yrs age of superannuation for their teachers, since their inception and this is in tune with the recommendations of University Grant Commission (UGC). Dr. Sharma further pointed out that varsity had accepted all UGC/ICAR requirements that had been brought into force including qualifications laid down for various posts and appealed to Chancellor that it is only fair that service conditions that the UGC and ICAR recommends for teachers / scientists should now be implemented in toto, for better research and teaching outputs. Dr. Vivak M. Arya, General Secretary of the association appealed the Governor to consider the genuine demand put forth by the association as for excellent teaching, research and extension output in the State Agriculture University (SAU) system (set up) it has now been accepted universally that the Professors / Scientists / Subject Matter Specialists should be given maximum time in their respective fields and it is happening at national and international level e.g., Central Agricultural Universities of India and abroad. |
