Army Major critical among three injured in second IED blast in Balakote
LoC IED blasts: Attempt to sabotage Indo-Pak bonhomie
6/12/2014 11:05:21 PM
Early Times Report

Rajouri/Jammu, June 12: Two Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blasts at the LoC on Thursday that left a Jawan dead and six others with one Major critically injured is being seen as an attempt by forces within Pakistan to sabotage the new found bonhomie between the two countries following Nawaz Sharief's recent visit to India.
Immediately after Pak PM's visit, the anti India forces have renewed their activities and, as was expected, Pakistan army in nexus with Lashker-e-Toiba commanders and members of Border Action Team have reportedly struck in Tarkundi sector and planted an IED on the patrol track of Indian soldiers.
In the IED blast which took place at about 8.30 am today one soldier identified as sepoy Shanker Singh of Jat regiment was killed while sepoy Shailinder , L/Naik Mohinder and sepoy Sham Bir of Rajput regiment were injured.
Jammu based Public Relation Officer (PRO) Lt Col Munish while confirming the incident said that Shanker Singh was killed in an IED blast while other three were injured and are under treatment in army hospital and were out of danger.
Sources added that at about 8.30 pm when the joint team of Jat and Rajput regiments was on a routine border domination exercise near Cheel post in Tarkundi sector, the IED exploded in which the soldier was killed while three others sustained splinter injuries.
Yet in another similar incident three more army personal including a senior official -Major were injured at around 4:00 pm when an IED exploded during the search operation in the target area.
Sources said the in three injured have been identified namely as Major A K Bhatia, Havaldar Suresh Kumar of 66 Engineer and Naik Sukhvinder Singh of 7 SIKH who was accompanying them during the operation. Sources, meanwhile maintained that condition of Major Bhatia is said to critical till last report came in.
"It can't be denied that the IED was planted by the Pakistan soldiers or by the members of Border Action Team (BAT) as it can't be Indian army's powerful explosive device to stop the entry of anti national elements from across the border, Had it be an Indian IED it would not have planted on the patrol track of the soldiers" said a reliable source.
Pertinent to mention here that for the last many months the presence of BAT members was noticed by the Indian Intelligence agencies in PoJK on opposite side of Tarkundi, Mendhar and Poonch sectors and senior most army officers in JK have also admitted possible attempt by these BAT members.
Sources said that in the past also Pakistan army in nexus with BAT members had entered the Indian side and in the months of January and August 2013 had killed 7 soldiers in Mendher ( L/kaik Sudhakar was beheaded) and Chakan-da Bagh area in Poonch.
