VC SMVDU inaugurates Solar Radiation Resource Assessment Station | | | Early Times Report
KATRA, June 12: A Solar Radiation Resource Assessment (SRRA) Station was established at School of Energy Management of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU). The SRRA station has been set up on the roof top of Academic Block D of the university was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor, SMVDU, Prof Sudhir K Jain. SMVDU holds distinction of being chosen by C-WET (Centre for Wind Energy Technology, Chennai), Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, Govt. of India for setting up of Solar Radiation Resource Assessment (SRRA) Station at School of Energy Management. The project is fully sponsored by Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, Govt of India and is being implemented by center for wind energy, technologies, Chennai. The SRRA station is an automatic stand-alone system using high quality, high resolution equipment/instruments to assess and quantify solar radiation availability along with weather parameters to develop a Solar Atlas SMVD University is the only university in Jammu & Kashmir offering research programmes in the area of renewable energy, energy management etc and such achievements will be very helpful in increasing the research output for sustainable development. Vice Chancellor Prof. Jain congratulated School of Energy Management for this initiative and suggested that the School of Energy Management should look into the possibilities of other centrally funded schemes in the areas of renewable energy. |
