Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, June 12: At a time when Mehboob Beg is launching scathing attacks on his own party, sources ascribe reasons to some incidents in the aftermath of Lok Sabha polls which include replacing his son from the post of youth vice president, growing competition within party circles and internal bickering.
According to highly placed sources within NC, replacing Waseem Beg son of Mehboob Beg from the post of youth vice president after a resolution which was passed by youth leaders of the party and accepted by high command as well very recently is one among the reasons which may have compelled Mehboob Beg to go public against his own party. "Growing competition among senior leaders of the party after recent poll debacle to gain favors of party high command like Ali Mohammad Sagar did as he is the first person outside Sheikh family to be appointed as general secretary, share of many such portfolios on the bases of favoritism and prevailing lobbyism, more response from party high command to those leaders whom they consider future heroes and sidelining people like Beg, besides internal bickering among senior leaders are also among the strong reasons responsible for disheartening of Beg and firing openly against part leadership and policies as well," sources said.
Sources said that as the party high command is working on complete overhauling of party cadres these days after rout to NC in recently concluded Parliamentary elections following the reports received from ground level workers of NC, allegations and suggestions of amendments put forward by party followers and analyses of Poll percentage and future strategies, many senior leaders of the party of central, North and South Kashmir are under scanner.
Sources also said that party high command particularly NC Patron Farooq Abdullah has already announced that nobody should live in fools paradise that things will remain the same as used to be over the years and indicted involvement of new faces in the party cadre across the state.
"Beg is not alone to be fired, but he has sound backing of some renowned leaders of the party who are mum from some time and all including Omar and Farooq Abdullah knows very well who are backing Beg and why," sources added
Pertinently Mehboob Beg is in headlines these days after he launched a scathing attack against the policies of his own party. Beg while addressing a gathering on the anniversary of his father Mirza Afzal Beg in South Kashmir on Monday accused Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather for economic disparity and backdoor appointment in Jammu and Kashmir Bank and warned his party to mend its policies or be ready to face drubbing in the upcoming Assembly elections and apprehended that "If you don't learn from the mistakes that you commit in the past, then your rout is inevitable, you ignored South Kashmir and its people and that is the reason that you faced this huge defeat in the recent elections. You have yourself facilitated PDP's win through your wrong policies."
