Chaman Lal to join BJP 44 + bandwagon? | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 12: Notwithstanding the much touted target of Mission 44 Plus set by the local BJP leaders, the party high command has no faith on the incumbent leadership of J&K so party leadership has suggested the idea of bringing back all the leaders. Credible sources in the BJP said that during the core committee meeting which was held at the residence of BJP national president and Union Home Minister on Tuesday evening, senior party leader RP Singh mooted the idea of revoking expulsion of veteran leader Chaman Lal Gupta to achieve the target of 44 Plus. RP Singh, who is co-incharge of J&K BJP and close confidante of Union Minister Arun Jaitley , had suggested that Prof Chaman Lal Gupta should be taken back in the party because BJP needs a strong leadership to achieve the target of 44 Plus. Credible sources said that core committee members of the state unit of BJP had not shown much enthusiasm to take back Chaman Lal Gupta but issue was raised in the meeting. Sources said that Central leadership of the BJP is very much aware that present leadership in the state is not in position to achieve the target. Although BJP has won three seats in just concluded Parliament elections, high command is very much aware that it was result of the Modi Wave that BJP has created history. High command is aware that none of the BJP leaders in the state unit is in a position to win Panchayat elections on its own what to say of Assembly or Lok Sabha elections so high command has suggested the idea of taking all expelled leaders back. RP Singh, who has been incharge of BJP since long, is aware of the ground reality. He is aware that present state leadership lack leadership quality. Five of the total seven expelled MLAs of the BJP had already taken back by the party so there is no logic to single out Prof Chaman Lal Gupta, who has played dominant role in making BJP a force in Jammu and Kashmir. |
