Early Times Report

Jammu, June 14: In pursuit of its Mission 44 Plus, BJP is trying to rope in the big leaders of none other than its traditional rival party Congress in the state who have the potential of either winning on their own in the constituencies or can help BJP manage victory with their overt or covert support in other constituencies. As BJP is vigorously pursuing its agenda of securing what they have targeted 44 seats in forthcoming Assembly elections, Congress on the contrary in sleeping mode is all set to be caught unawares when its leaders would switch over sides for apparent reasons. After having successfully completed its agenda of diluting Congress existence (Congress Mukt ) in the national political scene, BJP is now focussing on similar agenda in J&K where it is using all its 'energy and mind' in wooing as much Congress leaders to its fold.
Sources said in an all aggressive mode from day one, the BJP leadership has embarked on the strategy of wooing leaders from the rival party much to secure its own political gains in the Assembly polls. Sources said some senior BJP leaders are in touch with certain leaders of the Congress for one or the other reason are not happy with the party leadership. Some of these leaders have lately been sidelined while others simply pushed to the wall despite being senior and experienced lot in the state unit, sources said adding that this has made them disenchanted with the organization and its political matters which is why for quite some time they have maintained distance from any activity.
Sources said with just announced LS poll results which have changed the political scenario and equations of parties completely at the national level have impacted the situation in J&K too where even ministers of ruling parties are ready to switch over to rival parties.
In the changed scenario a couple of Congress ministers are in regular touch with BJP leadership and may go into its fold at any appropriate time soon. What is prompting them to take this risky leap is their disenchantment with the party leadership and utter disappointment with the manner it has conducted itself post debacle in LS polls. The disappointment is more for the reason that Congress is in still mode virtually doing nothing in sharp contrast to fast track activities of BJP with respect to having drawn its target much ahead of any other party in the state. It is basically what they see as very weak build plan , rather no plan as of now of the Congress which makes them feel all is not well in store for them in the Assembly polls, sources further said.
Many Congress leaders have appreciated the pro active strategy of BJP in not just expediting things in organizational matters but also keeping up the morale and winning spirit of cadres by consolidating them at every level.
BJP's recent overture towards trying to bring back estranged Prof Chaman Lal Gupta and Jagdish Sapolia is also being seen as its steps towards pursuit of Mission 44 Plus which has left many in political corridors wondering. On the contrary Congress has left the party is state of disarray at a time when the leadership should have geared up for the Assembly polls. Sources said BJP is trying to cash in on this sentiment and trying to rope in the leaders who have shown some inclination to their offer. While Congress continues to sit and sleep in deep slumber , BJP with its well drawn political strategy and a clear agenda is trying to enter into its strong bastions but also breaking its leaders into their fold.
