Coalition rule, thy name is failure

SRINAGAR, June 14: It makes no sense when the leaders, who are in power claim tall that they have done wonders to the state of Jammu and Kashmir during their six years of governance. It makes everybody laugh to listen to their statements wherein they say that the state progressed by leaps and bounds during their term in power.
Hospitals of the state lack in basic facilities. Most of the schools of Jammu and Kashmir present the look of the poultry farms, people are compelled to drink contaminated water and frequent power breakdowns are the order of the day. These are the hallmarks of the efficient government of Jammu and Kashmir. It is beyond doubt that the state of Jammu and Kashmir is clearly behind all other states of India as far as the development is concerned. But it is the road connectivity which depicts its primitive condition as the government is in no mood to improve this area of utmost importance. Leave alone the vehicles; it causes tremendous inconvenience to the pedestrians.
Some people at Srinagar, who talked to the EARLY TIMES said "The government did nothing over the years to improve the road connectivity which is primary requisite for the development. The roads that are at the disposal are absolutely in pathetic conditions."
They said the number of vehicles had increased manifold over the years.
Whosoever comes into the possession of a vehicle, feels himself over the moon. But his joy is short lived given the pathetic conditions of the roads as his cherished thing gets destroyed in a very short period of time. All he can do then is to repent over his dream to drive. Same is the case with the people who run the vehicles for the commercial purposes. These people suffer immensely in terms of economic loss as their vehicles get destroyed during the journeys. The roads which are in shambles, pose a serious threat to these vehicles.
One of the sumo drivers namely Mushtaq Ahmad at Batamaloo told EARLY TIMES that "We made driving our career with a hope to earn livelihood but little did we know that we will suffer on account of poor road connectivity. Our hopes have been dashed to the ground,".
Another driver, namely Bashir Ahmad joined the chorus and said "The government is punishing us by not considering the repairments of the roads which are in pathetic condition all over the state. This has hampered our business activity, which will have no takers in the near future,".
