Jammu airport staggers at 'critical' airport category | '3 airlines found violating for flying full load' | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 14: For tourists, traveling by air to Jammu, and those in the state opting for air travel may feel the pinch in case the aviation authorities implemented its plan to stop INDIGO, Go-Air and Spicejet aircrafts from flying on Delhi-Jammu or Mumbai-Jammu route. Official sources said that the aviation authorities have held these three carriers responsible for violating safety norms. Explaining it official sources said that under rules these three small carriers were not supposed to fly to Jammu airport with a regulated take-off weight. It was found, during random checks, that these three carriers operated with full load by filling all the seats with the passengers. As per the rules laid down by the DGCA these small carriers had to fly with some seats vacant which could reduce the take-off weight. It had been seen while most of these carriers operated with full load and weight others kept two to three seats vacant which was also violative of the safety norms. Sources said that Jammu airport, with a short runway, is grouped with those airports which fall under the critical airports category. Reports said that these three carriers have been issued a warning telling the operators that their flights would be banned in case they did not stick to the safety norms set by the DGCA. According to these reports,the operators have assured the civila aviation authorities that they would abide by the safety norms in future. |
