CITU hails redressal of RET teachers demands

Jammu, June 14: Sham Prasad Kesar senior leader of Centre Of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) has hailed the decision of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah regarding solution of long pending demands of RET teachers i.e inclusion of 5 years period in their service and transfer policy for them. He congratulated RET teachers for their victory after protracted struggle.
He also congratulated M Y Tarigami MLA and state president of CITU for strongly raising his voice inside and outside the state Assembly in favour of these demands. Kesar further appealed the Chief Minister to also resolve the demands of Anganwadi workers/Helpers, ASHA workers and Midday meal workers working under different schemes keeping in view their miserable service condition. He demanded minimum wages of Rs. 15000/= per month linked to consumer price index. He further demanded social security benefits including gratuity, pension, EPF and medical allowance for all these workers. Kesar also demanded Immediate implementation of the order issued by Director NRHM, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, GOI, regarding enhancement of incentives including Rs. 1000/= per month, Aam Admi Bhima Yojna and scholarship to the children of ASHA workers. He further demanded sanctioning of benefits to Anganwadi workers/ Helpers on Haryana pattern, 65 years retirement age, 20 days casual leave, six months maternity leave , summer/ winter vacation and TA/ DA.


SKUAST Teaching Association demands enhancement in retirement age

Jammu, June 14: A day after Chief Minister's statement regarding increase in the retirement age of faculty members of Universities, a joint meeting was held between the office bearers of SKUAST-J teaching association and SKUAST-K Teaching Association demanded to increase the retirement age of varsity scientists up to 65 years, with the provision of extension up to the age of 70, as per norms of the University Grants Commission (UGC), by considering the matter in the forth coming Cabinet.
While addressing a meeting, SKUAST-TAJ President, Dr. Vikas Sharma, expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for his personal intervention and accepting the disparity in the retirement age of the faculty of Central Universities and State Universities.
"The State Government should now take the same action with regard to teachers with Universities in the state and bring their service conditions, including age of retirement, on a par with those of employees with Central Universities, as laid down by the UGC", stressed TAJ President Dr. Vikas Sharma.
Dr. Vivak M Arya, General Secretary of SKUAST-TAJ, pointed out that G B Pant University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Pantnagar, Uttarakhand and Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat, Assam have taken the lead in this regard and fixed the age of superannuation as 65 in the year 2013, thereby retaining the excellent human resource.
Dr. SA Dar, President SKUAST Scientists Teachers Association (SSTA), Kashmir, pointed out that vide letter No. F. No. 119/2006-U.II dated 23.03.2007 and vide letter No. F.1-24/2006-Desk(U) dated 30.03.2007, the age of superannuation of teachers and Vice Chancellors of Central Universities has already been enhanced up to 65 and 70 years respectively and the State Govt. should follow the same for State Universities. Dr. Saleem Iqbal, President SKUAST Vetrinary scientists association (SVSA), Kashmiri, said that for the upgradation of any institution, it is very much essential to maintain high standards of teaching and retain highly experienced faculty and this can be possible only by increasing retiring age of faculty that is fully equipped with research and teaching experience.


CTA calls on Minister Higher Edu, submits memorandum

Jammu, June 14: A joint delegation of College Teachers Association (CTA) led by the President Jammu (Wing) Dr. Sanjay Verma and President Srinagar (Wing) Dr. Tariq Ashai called on Minister of Higher Education Mohammad Akbar Lone at Srinagar and submitted a memorandum of demands to him.
The meeting was held in the presence of Secretary Higher Education, Mushtaq Ahmed Sheikh and Deputy Secretary, Higher Education Anil Salgotra The demand concerning anomalies in SRO-124 was highlighted and discussed in detail by the association and CTA stressed that the teaching fraternity is going to be highly affected vis-à-vis the implementation of SRO-124 in the present form as it will be difficult for many teachers ,to fulfill the conditions as laid down in SRO-124.
It was suggested to the higher authorities that SRO-124 should be implemented in the manner as was done by the UGC in implementing the Sixth Pay Commission on the recommendations of MHRD vide Notification No,1-32/2006-U.II/U.I(i).
Minister gave a patient hearing and agreed in principle that the matter will be looked into positively and that no teacher will be made to suffer while implementing the SRO-124.


Under CSR, SBI distributes stationary items at Bal Kendra

Jammu, June 14: Under its Corporate Social Responsibility, the State Bank of India (SBI), the biggest Bank of the country today organized a function at Ved Mandir Bal Kendra, Amphallla Jammu wherein official of bank distributed stationary items to the students/inmates of Bal Niketan (Kendra) Jammu
The function was sponsored by State Bank of India, Bari Brahmana Branch which has provided stationary items for the needy students.
The chief guest S K Kapoor Zonal Head, J&K module distributed note books, books & eatables among the deprived children.
He also announced that bank will provide financial assistance to the students regularly so that they are able to study and get proper education.
Earlier Rajiv Mengi, Branch Head welcomed all those who were present. The students of Kendra presented a colourful programme.


ReT Teacher Forum hails CM

Jammu, Jun 14: All J&K R-E-T Teachers Forum of District Samba hailed government for fulfillment of long pending demand of including five years rendered service as ReT for seniority and promotional benefits and transfer policy for regularized teachers.
A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Anil Choudhary and Rishpal Choudhary and they thanked tha Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand for considering the long pending demands of the forum. They said that the remarkable decision would benefit more that 55000 ReT teachers of the states.
Those who present in the meeting included Dara Sing, Pawandev Singh, Kulwant Singh Jammoria, Jimmy Sambyal, Pawan Kumar, Harbans Lal, Sanjeev Singh, Surinder Singh, Ashok Kumar, Yash Paul, Sham, Rajinder Singh, R P Sharma, Rakesh, Vijay Kumar and others.



Saturday Music Event organized

Jammu, June 14: Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan (BLSKS) today organized its 3rd "Saturday Music Event" at its Studio Disco More Janipur in collaboration with ESRM.
Music Event was focused on Religious Songs of Meera Bai, Kabir and Surdas. In First Phase Senior Music Teacher Raju Bajgal , MC Kotwal , KK Joshi and Hemraj briefed the students about the importance of religious Songs of Meera Bai and Surdas. In the second phase music students in Joint venture sung different religious songs in Hindi.
The composition for these Religious songs was done by Raju Bajgal and the singers and Artists were Bhoomika chib, Rakshit Sharma , Dhruv Pandita , Akshita Chauhan ,Raju Mad , Nazuk Bhagat, Rakesh Katoch, Devam Jandyal , Neelam Chib, Trishik Chauhan , Suraj Dass (Tabla ) , Ghansham , Rohit Kumar , Master Deepak Kumar Dogra .

Sant Nirankari Mandal observes World Blood Donors Day

Jammu, June 14: On the eve of World Blood Donors Day, Sant Nirankari Mandal Branch Pounichak organised a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp today at Blood Bank, GMC Jammu in which large number of devotees participated. The special invitee Dr Ghanshyam Dev Principal & Dean Govt Medical College Jammu inaugurated the camp and also appreciated the spirit of voluntary donors. Ajit Singh Zonal Incharge, Sant nirankari mandal, Zone 1 J&K, Dr Vijay Sahwney HOD Blood Bank, Dr Meena Sidhu, Rattan Chand, I P Sharma and other prominent personalities also rendered their support to the camp.

DIG Jammu decorates newly promoted DySPs

KP social activists discuss return issue

Jammu, June 14: A meeting of Kashmiri social activists was held in response to the return of Kashmiri Pandit community to the valley..
Speaking on the occasion, Pintoo Ji of Jagti appealed all the KP leaders to formulate and submit a united memorandum, feasible in all respects to the community. Before formulation of any decision all the KP leaders must have a general meeting to have thread bear discussion on the issue, so that feasible positive result for the betterment of the whole community is sought.
He said, we have suffered a lot since 700 years prior to 1990 mass exodus, history is evident to it. Encroachment of property and religious places, change of name of religious places, change in the name of saints, the latest statement of the hardliner leader Sayeed Ali shah Geelani, recent statement of J&K CM, If abolition of 370 was done we have to decide the alternative option, various militant outfits are still alive and operative carrying the strategy of ISI, such policy degrade and discourage our existence in the valley.
Could we survive the existing radical norms prevailing in the valley? Before making any road map we have to take the KPs into confidence. It is a golden opportunity provided by the central Govt., once again for the co-operation and unity of the community, so that unanimous programme be formulated for the future policy and our coming generations should not become the victim of radicalism and fanatism once again. It is well said, "Haste makes waste",It needs to gather general opinion of the KPs and to develop a confidence building measures in KP community prior to any decision. He warned the people having no mandate from the community should not try to become Raja Jai Chand for their vested interests to massacre the interests of the community by creating misunderstanding and misguidance among KPs. No such policy is acceptable without the consultation of KPs.


Ramgarh shakha pays tributes to Rakeshji

Jammu, June 14: A large number of people associated with Ramgarh Shakha of RSS, including veterans and youth, assembled at Billu Mandir in Panjtirthi area of Jammu city to pay their tributes to former Prant Pracharak of RSS for Jammu and Kashmir Rakesh ji, who died in road accident in Rajasthan.
In a homage paying programme held under Karan Singh, they remembered the services of Rakesh ji as Prant Pracharak of this border state.
Karan Singh, who had a long association with Rakeshji, said that in the demise of this noble person not only RSS but the society as a whole has lost a man whose only mission in life was to work for the mankind and unite all the sections of the society for a strong nation.
He said that contribution of Rakeshji in getting annual yatra of Budda Amarnath started in 2005-2006 cannot be forgotten. This man had earned respect for him among the people of all sections. His hard work and commitment towards work had received attention of the high ups in RSS, who entrusted him with an important and challenging responsibility as All India Sangathan Mantri of "Seema Jagran Manch". The vacuum created by the demise of Rakesh ji cannot be filled and his life shall remain to serve as a source of inspiration for generations to come, said Karan Singh.
Karan Singh and others also observed 2-minute silence for the peace of the departed soul. 5 days National Hospitality Skill Certificate Course, concludes

Jammu, June 14: A Five days Orientation Course of National Hospitality Skill Certificate organized by the "Food Craft Institute" department of Tourism, Govt of J&K at the Press Club of Jammu, concluded here today.
This National Hospitality Skill Certificate Course scheme has been introduced by the Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India, for the benefit of Waiters and Cooks, engaged in the respective field but without formal education and certification of their expertise. Over 20 waiters and cooks from the Press Club Jammu participated in Five days Orientation Programme from June 9 which was followed by a skill and oral test on the valedictory day.
Prominent present on valedictory occasion included Raju Kerni, the Vice President and Sohail Kazmi, Secretary General of the Press Club of Jammu and Jyoti Bhatti, the Principal and Dheeraj Sharma from faculty of the Food Craft Institute. On this occasion the course completion Certificates were also distributed among the participants.

GCW Gandhi Nagar launches online application facility for Sem-I

Jammu, June 14: Government College for Women (GCW) Gandhi Nagar has started online application filing tacitly for aspirants of B.A/B.Sc/B.Com/BCA for 1st Semester from June 17, 2014.
As per press release, the Students have been advised to login to the College official Website: www.gcwparade.in. The students were further advised to go through the Universities Statues as well as the College prospectus which will be available again on the same website.
To facilitate the students, the College has created a computer centre where they can fill their online applications.
The students are advised to keep their photographs, latest marksheet, date of birth certificate ready for uploading.


NSF organized 115th birth-anniversary of Brig Rajinder Singh in Campus

Jammu, June 14: National Secular Forum (NSF), Jammu University Unit organized a programme in Jammu University, and on the birth-anniversary of Brig Rajinder Singh who laid his life for the country.
Abhay Pargal Social activist was the chief guest while Vikas Sharma was the guest of honour and Sukhdev Singh President NSF, presided over the function.
Speaking on the occasion, Abhey Pargal appreciated the initiative taken by the NSF member to remember the martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for the State. He also stressed upon the youth to shun their self centered outlook and contribute in the development of the nation. He also said that Brig Rajinder Singh the defender of the State who had laid down his life while fighting for five days with 100 gallant Dogras in Oct 1947 against 6000 Pakistanis. He further said sacrificed his life to earn the gratitude of the nation and was awarded the first gallantry award of Independent India, The Mahavir Chakra. He is also called the Saviour of Kashmir for the unparalleled example in the annals of the Military History by the grateful people of the State.
Vikas Sharma recalled the planning capability, boldness and feeling of nationalism in martyr a Brig Rajinder Singh and stressed upon the youth to follow his ideas. He appealed to the youth to come forward to eliminate all evils from the society. He was born on 14 June 1899, in Bagoona village, 35 km east of Jammu city in Samba Tehsil.
JB Singh chairman Jammu University Unit delivered the welcome address, Qayoom Malik President University unit presented the vote of thanks.



Eminent artists Suman Gupta latest series of works to be showcased in USA

Jammu, June 14: Suman Gupta who is one of the well known contemporary realist artist of the J&K state has been invited to show his latest series of art works in United States of America (USA) and his works shall be showcased at one of leading art gallery at Pittsburgh in USA for six weeks under 'one man show' category to the artist in the gallery.
According to statement, Suman Gupta imagines secret ethnic places in nature where children and adolescents retreat to and dream of inhabiting. His portraits show a blend of the elements of an abstracto-realist painter - a Dionysian, blissfully besotted by the colors, forms and lights of tranquil oasis of nature. Some of his pictures sometime seem as physical as wet meadow underfoot or a heavy mist on the cheek; the paint itself often has the texture of the earth.
"He has worked over the years with many different moods and scales-of spirit ,size and colors-but almost invariably sought to raise the most intense physical sensations in to kind of transcendent rapture, statement said adding, " the latest show shall commence from September 1st- October 12th, in Pittsburgh this year.
Pertinently Suman Gupta have the distinction of being the first Indian ever to exhibit his works at the UN headquarter in Geneva, Switzerland in a one man show titled "The Mountain Mysteries' in 2002, besides this he has already exhibited his works in many countries in different part of the world including, Singapore, UAE, Cyprus, Beijing, London, Florence, Italy, Finland, New Zealand and U.S.A etc.
