Bickering in Coalition Govt: Cong starts playing role of opposition | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 14: It is more or less an embarrassment for the coalition Government because Congress, which is part of this regime, today submitted a memorandum to Divisional Commissioner Jammu to highlight plights of the people of Jammu due to unprecedented and unscheduled power cuts. Congress party, which is very much part of the Government, is behaving like opposition while highlighting problems being faced by the people due to power cuts, especially in the metered areas. Congress party's decision to lodge protest against power cuts in Jammu region has exposed bickering within the coalition as well as within the Congress. While as Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is holding portfolio of Power, Vikar Rasool, Congress MLA from Banihal is holding the charge of MoS Power in the coalition Government so protest against power scenario is clearly a protest against Chief Minister as well as Congress Minister. Credible sources in the Congress said that after worst ever debacle in the Parliament elections Congress leadership has realized that its members in the Government have failed to solve peoples' problem so it is better to activate party to play the role of opposition to arrest shrinking base of the party in Jammu region. The memorandum submitted to the Divisional Commissioner Jammu was also an indicator of Congress strategy. "The anguish of the people towards the commitment of the state Government as it promised to supply regular/uninterrupted electricity in the area which are fully metered. The department is getting a major revenue from these areas. It is further to mention here that the people are also aware of this that our locality is giving huge revenue to the concerned department and despite that the consumers have to face darkness", the memorandum reads as, adding, "the people are very angry over the unscheduled electricity cuts in most of the areas". |
