NMC demands regularization of daily rated workers

Jammu, June 15: Stressing on the need for immediate regularization of casual and seasonal laborers working in various departments of the State Govt., President of the National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) Subash Shastri today appealed to the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to regularize these daily rated workers.
Addressing a largely attended NMC workers rally at Brahmin Sabha here, Shastri also urged upon the chairman of the 7th pay commission to recommend to the NDA Govt, at the Centre to grant 20% interim relief in favor of both Central and State Governments employees and pensioners, merger of 50% DA ith basic pay and pension and enhancement of retirement age of Central Govt, employees to 62 years.
Shastri emphasized that whenever the recommendations of the commission are submitted to the entral Govt., the commission should also recommend to the Central Govt, for extending these recommendation to the State Govt, employees along with provision of funds to J&K Govt, so that the State Govt, employees does not wait for extending of 7th pay commission benefits to them there by restraining them from resorting agitation path.
Shastri further urged upon the 7th pay commission to make encouraging and practical ecommendations in view of the hiking inflation and price hike. Shastri also demande/d that the commission should now start visiting various states of the country to have first hand views of the representatives of the employees federations.
This will help the commission to make realistic recommendations to the Central Government , he added. Release of 10% DA and 4th installment of the 6th pay commission arrears, release of wages of daily wagers at the earliest, enhancing medical allowance to rupees one thousand per month, emoluments of daily wagers should be enhanced to rupees ten thousand per month, issuance of regularization orders of 180 daily wagers working in Rural development department and declaring Jammu city as B-l city were other demands highlighted in the rally.
