Early Times Report Kathua, June 16: Keeping in view the increasing number of road accidents as well as the traffic congestion on the National Highway, the traffic police have conducted a massive inspection of the speed of the running vehicles on the National Highway by holding a naka at National Highway Kathua here today and booked atleast 60 vehicles on the eve of Traffic Week which commenced today. According to official spokesperson, during the campaign against traffic rules violators, the traffic police cops with help of interceptor and speed monitoring equipment found a large number of drivers violating the traffic norms especially 'over speed' who accordingly were fined by the Traffic police at Kathua today.While speaking to the media, Sarbjeet Singh Jamwal, District Traffic Inspector (DTI) of Kathua tsaid that more than 60 vehicles were found to have violation of the speed norms on National Highway and were fined by the traffic police. He said 'Public safety is our Aim" and in this bid traffic police is to hold a variety of programmes during the Traffic Week to make the people aware about rules and need to follow them. "During the week long awareness programmes, live demonstrations, rallies, and other programmes will also be held, traffic police said. Such programmes will aware the people about the life of a person after accident, as some are physically incapacitated, while some are bed ridden, he added. |
