Junaid Hashmi joins NC, calls on Omar | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 16: Early Times staffer and young journalist Syed Junaid Hashmi on Monday joined National Conference and described it a great movement for him to carry forward the cherished mission of Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah by serving the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Welcoming Hashmi in the party fold at a function held at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan here this morning, Provincial President Devender Singh Rana said that joining of young people will further strengthen National Conference at the grass roots level and help achieving the objective of empowering people politically and economically. He described National Conference as a movement that has withstood test of times during most turbulent phases but never compromised with the just cause of the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, He said Dr Farooq Abdullah and Chief Minister Mr Omar Abdullah have been carrying forward this legacy of serving the state with sincerity of purpose to enable people live a dignified life. Rana congratulated Hashmi and hoped he will put in his best to make the people at grass roots level aware about policies and programmes of National Conference. Those present on the occasion included Provincial Secretary Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, Jugal Mahajan, Surinder Singh Bunty, S Peter and Taranjeet Singh Tony. ater, Hashmi met Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who congratulated him on joining National Conference. He had a brief meeting wherein he was asked to work for strengthening party in erstwhile District Doda and in parts of Rajouri and Poonch. Besides the Provincial President, Senior State Vice President Surjeet Singh Slathia was also present on the occasion. |
