SRINAGAR, June 16: National Conference (NC) as part of remedial measures suggested by core group is committed to replace old faces from some constituencies of central and south Kashmir.
Sources said that internal bickering among senior and juniors of the party is gaining momentum with every passing day and the situation may end up with switch over policy. Following the introspection sessions conducted by party leadership post rout to NC in Lok Sabha elections, sources said that core committee as part of remedial measures has suggested replacing some old faces of the party who mostly belong to South Kashmir's Anantnag, Kulgam, and Shopian of South Kashmir and Ganderbal and Budgam Districts of central Kashmir.
"Axe can fall on any one among the seniors in these areas, though naming won't be fair but I can tell you that some of names suggested include the ones also who have contested many a times on NC ticket, some have contested once and some have contested twice also," sources said. They added that the core group is committed to field some known young faces during upcoming Assembly elections who recently joined Party from South and central Kashmir, yet the senior lot of the party from these areas which include District and Block Presidents have already registered their protest and cautioned of serious consequences in case any new face is allowed to contest from South and central Kashmir.
Sources said that very recently name of one young leader was suggested by his close associates to contest the Assembly elections from Kulgam district and within hours after his name appeared within party circles, a group of people working on District, Tehsil and Block levels immediately reached party headquarter and registered a protest against him with party high command and threatened to switch over to other political parties in case the young leader proposed was allowed to contest upcoming Assembly elections.
"There are also talks going on these days that two senior most leaders of the party of south and central Kashmir may switch over to other political parties or may independently contest Assembly elections only because they are not happy with party leadership," sources said. The ongoing internal rivalry among senior and Junior's of the party according to sources is gaining momentum with every passing day and if while warning of severe consequences if correct measures are not taken in coming few days, NC workers in flocks would switch over to other political parties in near future.
