JAMMU, June 17: The MA Stadium, venue for under-19 camp organised by the Jammu wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), attracted a huge crowd of 120 young cricketers from Jammu district alone. The lone man, attending to these campers, senior coach of the J&K State Sports Council, Randhir Singh had a tough time to handle young cricket enthusiast in their endeavors to showcase their skills on the nets. However, known for punctuality and dedication towards his duties, this coach of gentleman's game had already finished the warm-up sessions for all these boys at 4.30 pm when trainees of other disciplines had yet to line-up for jogging and stretching. "It was difficult to handle such a big crowd of cricket enthusiasts. But, to meet their expectations I have to provide each of them an opportunity to exhibit their talent at the nets," said Randhir Singh amidst passing instructions to the cricketers. In order to look into the talent of each and every boy, these campers have been divided into groups segregating batsmen, bowlers and those wicket-keepers and those all-round cricketers. "Though I have been provided with assisting staff, including two senior cricketers, still I find it difficult to train the boys. Things would become a bit easier as the camp progress with those non-serious boys will be asked to leave the camp," he informed. Meanwhile, the women's camp was also underway at MA Stadium under the guidance of senior cricketer, Rupali Slathia. Around 50 young female cricketers were attending to the training sessions. With nearly 180 cricketers honing their skills in these camps, MA Stadium looks as if the venue belongs to the JKCA and not J&K State Sports Council. |
