| Rival Pandit groups lock horns over Durganag trusteeship | | |

SRINAGAR, July 2: Amid rivalry over membership rights of Durganag Trust among two Pandit groups despite Court directions, assets of Trust worth Millions of rupees across the state lurk is ruins. Two Pandit groups each claiming to be the trustees of renowned Durganag temple here in Srinagar contested each others trusteeship. One group of trustees of which Dr O.P Nakhasi is the secretary says that till 2011 we had a group of trustees in which one P.N Takoo was President, Dr Nakhasi himself was secretary, Premlata Bakhshi, M.L Kachroo, S.K Ganjoo, Amarnath Vaishnavi and Ravi Takoo were Trustees of Durganag and after the death of P.N Takoo, Amarnath Vaishanvi and resign of Ravi Takoo from trust, Trust had to fill three vacant posts of trustees which according to him was the sole responsibility of rest of trustees.
Dr Nakhasi says that 'as per the constitution of the trust it was the sole duty of old Trustees of Durganag only to include any new member in the trust' and alleges that another group of trustees presently headed by Satish Raina which include Murari Kaul, Ravi Thusoo, Kuldeep Raina were mere tenants of trust but are now forcibly posing themselves as trustees and office bearers of Durganag trust. "Trust deed dated 2007 which lies with us on which honourable High Court in its order number 32614 dated 3/9/2013 of CMP no 1940/2013 says that 'it is provided that the affairs of the property shall be regularized in accordance with the trust deed executed on 23rd March 2007," says Dr OP Nakhas, while displaying court papers. Pertinently another group of trustees presently headed by Satish Raina and include Murari Kaul, Satish Raina, Ravi thusoo, Kuldeep Raina and SK Ganjoo, former member of Nakhasi's Group alleges that group of Trustees headed by Nakhasi are involved in huge embezzlement of funds and property of trust over the years.
"Dr OP Nakhasi and their team have spared little and now with some more vested interests are eyeing the rest of what is left of this prestigious trust to further lease out," says Murari Kaul secretary of trust. The group of trustees headed by Satish Raina in a group meeting while talking to Early Times also said that after the Chief Judicial Magistrate prevented Dr OP Nakhasi and Premlata Bakshi from interfering into the affairs of the trust, they got access to one bank account of the trust which allegedly was otherwise misused by Nakhasi's team for their personal gains and further alleges that it was old group of trustees of Durganag who have leased out property of trust worth billions of rupees across the state.
Pertinently on collecting data regarding the property assets of trust leased out across the state includes amount of regular donations at Mandir, two Yatri Bhawans consisting of rooms, two commercial complexes, land on Punjabi Hotel, Hotel Himalaya, State Finance Corporation Department, Petrol Pump, office block, two double story buildings presently housing Daba's, 38 kanals of land around the temple leased out to 25 parties, 33 kanals of land at Sangeen Darwaza Pokhribal and 4.5 kanals of land near temple in the same area, besides 5 kanals of land in Barnai Jammu and 22 kanals of land near Kot Bhalwal Jail. |
