Police cracks day light robbery; 2 arrested, Rs 22 lakh recovered

Jammu, July 10: Acting swiftly the police today have arrested to two accused allegedly involved in day light robbery in which four unidentified robbers robbed two employees of a Indian Tobacco Company (ITC) after throwing chilli powder on them and decamped with bag containing cash worth Rs 25 lakh this morning.
While briefing the media persons about the big catch with few hours of the incident, Sr Superintendent of Police SSP) Jammu Uttam Chand said, " The arrested have been identified namely as Varun son of Baldev Raj of H.O 324, Sector 4,Sanjay Nagar and Zaffar Hussain son of Kaku Hussain of Sector F,Sainik Colony, Jammu while the hunt is on to nab their other accomplice."
He said, "The incident took place at 11:30 am today when Ashok Kumar and Sunil Kumar Arora both employees with ITC franchise in Jammu were on their way to deposit cash in Jammu and Kashmir Bank Nanaknagar Branch."
"The duo was on their scooty, when they were intercepted by four youth on two motorcycles who to the surprise of employees sprayed chilli powder on them and they snatched the cash bag and fled away before passersby could have any blink of what had happened, police officer said while quoting the victims.
SSP Jammu said after having information, different teams of police was constituted by SP North Yougal Manhas and acting swiftly rounded up some suspects which gave some clues to the police.
"Accordingly two accused persons were nabbed by a police team led by senior officers and PSI Sushil Choudary presently posted at IC/PP Sainik Colony, he said.
"Besides arrest of two accused, the police team also effected recovery of Rs 22 lakh following their disclosures, SSP Jammu said, adding, "while the massive hunt is on to arrest two more accused including their kingpin."
To a question about any possibilities of involvement of the employees of the very company, SSP Jammu said it could only be ascertained after the arrest of three more persons involved in the crime who are presently absconding. He however added the massive manhunt is on and hopefully we will arrest them soon.
