SRINAGAR, July 11: Mallinson Girls High School clinched the women's football tournament title after they defeated Government College for Women (GCW) MA Road in tie breaker in the final played at GCW MA Road, here today. Earlier, the title clash ended in a goalless draw with both sides failed in their attempts to bring in a field goal. Later, in tie-breaker, Mallinson girls emerged victorious making it a 2-1 win. From winners Mallinson School, Umihana Shah and Shameen Basharat were the scorers. Hakeema reduced the margin from GCW MA Road. Third place went to Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kothibagh while trophy for fair play presented to Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Chanpora. Secretary, Technical Education and Sports, Parvez Ahmad Malik was chief guest in the final, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies as also other individual prizes. Principal of the host GCW, Shaheen Altaf and Secretary, State Sports Council, Dilip Thusu were guests of honour. Meanwhile, the organizers of the tournament, J&K Football Association (JKFA), handed over a financial assistance to a young player of HSS Kothibagh, who got injured during the competition. |
