2 employees of CVPPC washed away in river Chenab

Kishtwar, July 11: In a tragic incident, two employees of Chenab Valley Power Project Corporation Limited (CVPPC) including an Engineer and a helper were washed in river Chenab this morning when the ropeway across the Chenab broke at Keru Hydel Power Project in Kishtwar.
The victims have been identified namely as Hoshiyar Sharma (Helper) son of Raguveer Sharma resident of Sambalpur Aligard UP & Pramod Pathak (Engineer) son of Radhay Sharma resident of Naglapur UP.
Both are the employees of Chenab Valley Power Project Corporation Ltd, a joint venture company with NHPC engaged in construction of 680 MW Kirru power Project.
As per the details available with "Early Times", the duo was engaged in rock testing at the proposed construction site of the project and today as per their routine work they were crossing the river through a ropeway and suddenly its cable broke off resulting the fall of duo in river. "Both were washed away by the strong water current, sources added.
"The tragedy took place at around 9.30 am today at Kirru in Nagsini area some 45 KM from Kishtwar and soon after receiving information the Police team from police post Padyarna swung into action and rush to the spot, sources said.
They added meanwhile rescue teams including divers from Kishtwar also were rushed to the spot and launched an operation to trace out the missing persons, however no body was recovered till last report poured in from the spot.
Meanwhile Police has also sounded an alert at Dam site of 390 MW Dool-Hasti Power Project and the project officials had been asked to close watch on Dam water as their is possibility that the bodies might have washed to downstream to the Dam site.
Police has also registered an FIR and has started its investigation. According to preliminary reports suggested that the company has not adopted proper precautionary measures at the time of pushing its employees to risk.
