Modi Govt could arm twist Omar on settlement of refugees | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 11: The Centre is likely to announce a special package for the refugees settled in the Jammu region. However, the proposal is stuck as the State Government is not forthcoming and avoiding it. According to sources, the Modi led Government is quite serious and eager to solve the long pending demands of the refugees. The Centre has shored up enough resources to meet the financial needs. The Centre has told the State that financial aspect is not problem but some head way has to be made by the State first. "Modi Government is very serious on this issue. The PM himself wants it to be settled at the earliest and has issued directions to his Cabinet colleagues on this account," said a senior official in the Home Ministry. It's for this reason the Government didn't make a specific announcement in the budget, though it had worked out the details. The Centre wants to get approval on it first from the State, which is a legal and constitutional binding. Omar Abdullah led Government is reluctant to accept the demand of the settlement of the refugees. The proposal is stuck with the Chief Secretary and has not move forward. The Congress is pushing for it but it is not getting any success. The Kashmir centric Government doesn't want to accept the demand of the refugees. It shares the skewed, illogical concerning bordering on communalism of the separatists that it would change the demography of the State. The separatists had deliberately tried to push a humanitarian problem as communal agenda of Hindu right wingers. "The Centre would not wait for much. Modi doesn't and can't be caved in by such separatist tendencies. The Centre will after some time force the state Government to accept it by any means," said the Home Ministry official. |
