Dental Surgeons' indefinite hunger strike enters 5th consecutive day | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 11: The fast unto death of unemployed Dental Surgeons at Ambphalla Chowk today entered fifth consecutive day. Hundreds of unemployed dental surgeons under the umbrella of Dental Surgeons' Association Jammu and Kashmir (DSA- JK) have also been sitting on dharna at Ambphalla Chowk Jammu and Press Enclave, Srinagar in support of their demands including absorption of unemployed dental youth. Speaking on the occasion, president, DSA-JK, Dr Asif Iqbal Chowdhary, said today our dharna entered 9th consecutive day while the ongoing indefinite strike has entered into 5th day. Alleging callous approach towards their concerns, he said, "Not even a single representative from the concerned authority or the Government came to listen to our grievances." "Government always tries to take credit for proposing and implementing the big schemes of Dental and Medical Health, but often has ignored the issues and demands of the intelligentsia, he added. Meantime he referred that the health condition of Dental Surgeons sitting on the fast unto death is deteriorating by each passing day. He said the Govt. will be responsible for any uneventful happening. He also lamented that the piling up of unemployment in dental sector in the State is only due to the negligence and failure of the Government in framing and executing the proper policy in relation to the dental health in the State. On this occasion Dr Choudhary and other speakers highlighted the demands like complete absorption of unemployed dental youth, recruitment of dental surgeons on every year basis and establish separate directorate for dental health in the state. They said that their agitation will not be called off and can take even more serious mood if their demands are not met at the earliest. |
